Necklaces
Necklaces in solid 9ct and 14ct gold — diamond pendant necklaces alongside gemstone and charm designs. Never plated, never filled.
Two ranges, one collection
This page covers every necklace we make, and like our earrings collection, it holds two distinct ranges rather than one.
The first is diamond necklaces — solitaire pendants, delicate diamond chains, cross and starburst designs built around a certified or lab grown stone. The second is gemstone and charm necklaces in solid gold — zircon-set clover, heart, cross and animal pendants on a fixed chain, generally at a lower price point than the diamond range. Both are solid 9ct or 14ct gold; neither is plated or filled.
If you already know you want diamond, go straight to diamond necklaces. If you want a charm on a separate chain rather than a fixed necklace, see pendants instead — the difference is explained below.
The diamond side
Our diamond necklaces range from delicate everyday pieces from around £600 to solitaire pendants above £2,500. The most common format is a single stone on a fine chain — four-claw or bezel-set — in weights from a barely-there 0.03ct up to a substantial 0.7ct solitaire. Cluster and halo pendant settings buy more visible sparkle for a given carat weight, the same trade-off explained on our cluster and halo ring pages, applied to a pendant instead of a ring.
Chain length matters more on a necklace than most people plan for. 16 inches sits at the collarbone, 18 inches is the most versatile everyday length, and anything past 20 inches sits below the neckline and reads as a statement piece rather than a daily one.
The gemstone and charm side
The rest of this collection uses colour and symbolism rather than a diamond centre: clover and heart pendants set with zircon, cross necklaces in several claw and bezel styles, and a run of animal and nature charms — elephant, butterfly, dragonfly — each set with a small coloured stone.
These sit at a lower price point than the diamond range for the same reason coloured cubic zirconia costs a fraction of an equivalent diamond, and they are a genuinely different purchase: chosen for what the symbol means or the colour it brings, not for carat weight.
Necklace or pendant — what is the actual difference?
On this site, a necklace is chain and pendant sold as one fixed piece. A pendant in our pendants collection is the charm alone, designed to go on a chain you already own or one bought separately — useful if you are building a layered look with pendants of different heights on the same chain, or if you already have a chain you are happy with.
9ct or 14ct for a necklace
A necklace sits against skin for hours at a time rather than taking daily knocks the way a ring does, so the durability case for 9ct is less pressing here than on a ring. 14ct is our most common recommendation for necklaces — a richer colour that shows well against skin — while 9ct remains the harder, more affordable option and suits fine chains that see frequent clasping and unclasping.
Common questions
What is the difference between this collection and diamond necklaces?
This page covers everything we make in necklaces. Diamond necklaces is the diamond-only cut of the same range.
What chain length should I choose?
16 inches for a choker-length fit at the collarbone, 18 inches for the most versatile everyday length, 20 inches and above for a lower, more statement placement.
Are the coloured stones in the charm range real gemstones?
Where a listing names a natural gemstone, it is real. Where cubic zirconia is used, the listing says so — an honestly labelled choice that gives the same clarity and sparkle as a diamond at a fraction of the cost.
Can I get matching earrings?
Often, yes — several designs across both the diamond and charm ranges are available as coordinated sets with our earrings collection. If you want an exact match that is not shown, commission it — the first conversation costs nothing.
Frequently asked questions
What gold do you use for your necklaces?
Every necklace is solid 9ct or 14ct gold, hallmarked in the UK — never gold plated or vermeil, so the colour won't fade or wear through with daily use.
Do your necklaces come with a chain included?
Yes, chain necklaces are sold complete and ready to wear. Pendants sold on their own (in our Pendants collection) don't include a chain, so you can pair them with one you already own.
How long is delivery for a necklace?
In-stock necklaces ship within 2-3 working days with free, insured UK delivery. Made-to-order pieces typically take 10-14 days — we'll confirm the exact date at checkout.
Can a necklace chain be resized or repaired later?
Yes. Chain length can be adjusted and clasps repaired at any point — solid gold is built to be serviced for life, unlike plated pieces that can't be reworked once the coating wears.
