"Customisable" gets used loosely across the jewellery industry, and it's worth knowing which version you're actually being offered before you commit. There are genuinely two different products here, not one.

The first is choosing from an existing, curated design and adjusting it -- metal colour, stone, engraving, chain length. This is faster, usually more budget-friendly, and works well when you love a design as it stands but want it to feel a little more personal. It's a real, legitimate option, not a lesser one.

The second is a full bespoke commission: starting from your own idea, a feeling, an inherited stone, or a reference image, and having a design built around it from scratch. This takes longer and costs more, because it involves original design work rather than adjusting something that already exists -- but it gives you a piece that genuinely couldn't be bought any other way.

Neither is automatically the better choice. Ready-to-ship customisation makes sense when you love a shape that already exists and just want it to feel like yours.
